We love Matthiessen State Park! This is our 2nd year heading down to Utica, IL to the park and we are thinking this is now officially a tradition.
Saturday morning Bryan and Michelle went hiking with us at Matthiessen and Starved Rock. It was the most beautiful day, the leaves were starting to turn and due to the recent rainy weather, the waterfalls were flowing!
We hiked and hiked and hiked, then we hiked some more, then the guys said, "hey, lets hike this trail over here," so we hiked some more... it was awesome! 
One major hilight of the day was when Ryan and Bryan decided to cross the river by shimmying against the rock wall to the other side. As you can see, Ryan came close enough to falling in that some guy he didn't even know reached out to help. He made it! Thank you Bryan and stranger guy.

OK, Amber! It was worth the wait! But really, we did miss you! Still can't believe Shelly went hiking! We thought we had cured her of that forever when we went kind of a lot in NM. (Ask her about it!)

I really want to take you guys back country some time. It is a lot of fun, and a lot of hiking. A little cold now though
