Astrophysicist Stephen Hawking told a sold-out audience at a recent lecture that the survival of the human race depends on finding another permanent base (like on the moon or Mars) in the next 20 to 40 years because some sort of disaster will destroy the Earth.

On a lighter note, he announced that he would soon be writing children’s books …
